Patagonia Strider-T

When your outdoor adventures are strenuous, or occur in warm or hot weather, you need a tee that helps you to keep cool. Especially one that quickly wicks sweat off of your torso to the fabric where it can quickly be evaporated into the air. This is an impossible job for a cotton tee, but is an easy job for a tee designed specifically with strenuous activity and hot weather in mind.

Once such tee is the Strider-T from Patagonia. Designed for strenuous outdoor activity, the Strider-T is a versatile tee that, in fact, doesn't really look all that like a tee in the first place. Because of its smart looks, the Strider-T can be worn for almost any occasion, and you won't look like you just came from a college frat.

Here's what makes the Strider-T a world class tee:

  • The fabric is made out of a fast-drying, lightweight stretch polyester mesh. Patagonia claims that the fabric has similar performance as to their Capilene fabric, although the fabric is different.

  • The overall fit of the tee is loose, but not baggy. Mobility is not compromised.

  • There are no seams on the shoulders to get in the way of your backpack. The inside stitching is flat to prevent it from irritating your skin.

  • The quality of the craftsmanship is excellent, as you would expect from any Patagonia garment. As I mentioned before, the tee doesn't really look like a tee, so you won't look like a bum when you wear it.

  • There's no large logo on the tee, shouting to everyone that you are cool. You don't need to tell anyone you are cool, I am sure that they already know that.

  • The Strider-T weighs about 5-6 ounces.

The Strider-T will perform well anywhere where or when you want to wear a tee, whether its running, biking, hiking, backpacking, traveling, or climbing.

Using the Patagonia Strider-T In the Real World

When I first wore my Strider-T after washing it the first time, there seemed to be quite a bit of odor after wearing it only a short amount of time. But after wearing and washing it 3-4 times, this stopped, and now the odor is similar to most polyester tees. I had not seen this before, but there is always a first for everything.

I often wear the Strider-T for many days at a time without washing it, and unless you cover it with yuck, it will still look presentable. It is mostly wrinkle-free.

It is also easy to wash while on the road, and it dries quickly, although you will want to hang it as flat as possible while drying to minimize wrinkles.

The Strider-T does a good job of wicking moisture off your skin and evaporating it into the air. I have seldom soaked the shirt, although it is possible under heavy physical activity.

Recommendation

If you need a tee that will keep up with your outdoor activity, you will want to consider the Patagonia Strider-T.

Product Notes

The Patagonia Strider-T is available for both men and women in a variety of sizes and colors. The tee can be washed in a washing machine, but should be dripped dry. The MSRP is $35.00.
