No backpack is complete without a
backpack cover. While most backpack
fabric is waterproof, seams are
generally not seam sealed and zippers
aren't normally waterproof. While light
precipitation won't affect most
backpacks, heavy rain will. And in these
cases, there is no substitute for a
backpack cover.
In the past, one of the problems with
backpack covers is that they have been
too bulky and heavy for many
backpackers. Because of this, covers are
often left at home.

lightweight, waterproof fabric that
compresses very small, and is very
lightweight.

Cordura nylon ripstop fabric. The
fabric is very tough and durable,
but very lightweight and
compressible.

sizes, designed for smaller- to
medium-sized backpacks.

Using the
Granite Gear Cloud Cover in the Real World
There's not a whole lot to say. The
cover works very well for most out door
adventures, as long as it fits your
backpack well. I would not recommend it
for climbing or mountaineering.
Recommendation
The Cloud Cover is highly recommended as
a backpack cover. Everyone should have a
backpack cover, and carry it with them
if there is any chance of heavy rain.
